No, I don’t mean back-to-school time, even though
- it is back to school time (my daughter had her open house for kindergarten today).
- I actually looked forward to back-to-school time as a child.
- those commercials are really hard to get out of your head once you’ve seen them (does that song even count as a Christmas carol anymore? probably not).
Actually, I mean that time of year when RadioLab releases new episodes! RadioLab is a one-of-a-kind radio exploration of deep ideas in science and philosophy, the big questions. And it’s quality over quantity, they only do five shows a year. And here come the new crop! If you listen to Michigan Radio 91.7, then they’ll be playing at 10pm each weekday next week. You can seek out a local station, or listen to them online at Michigan Radio, or get them from the RadioLab site. But if you have any kind of interest in thinking about ideas, get them.
The latter option, getting them from the RadioLab site itself, has the advantage of making it easy to hear the shows from previous seasons. My favorites? Probably Time, Emergence, Where Am I? , and Detective Stories.
